Page browser is a complex piece of code. It is often tricky to have it done. An example from the iStockPhoto below shows that clearly:
Zero result but displaying 607 on 21 pages? Hmmmm. Something is wrong here.

Try using SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS to count your rows in combination with the "Universal page browser" it always works.
